What is the best formation if you would like to be the attacking team?

Hard one to answer, if you want to be attacking then the more forwards you have the better so 3-4-3 or 4-2-4

Depends on the players/system too

Hoof to big lad in box or neat passing or dribble it forwards, get it wide and cross in etc etc

Do you have natural finishers, 1 particular goal scorer or maybe the goals come from many players?

I tried many formations and have settled on 4-3-2-1, but that suits my team at the moment.

U11s

4 are a standard back 4 but they are all defensive type players, no full backs pushing forward. I tend to play as a squashed diamond, ie two CBs are 1 in front and 1 behind. The front CB and 2 FBs are the 'go to' players, ie they close down player with ball. Rear CB acts as cover for whoever is 'going to'.

3 are my best, fittest, fastest players. 1 left footer, best player in team in middle and 1 right footer. These are my heart & engine. 2 push up and 1 stays back when we attack.

2 usually players who don't tackle much but have some ball skills, get wide and stay up. Drop into our half to receive ball from def when we are defending our last third.

1 Lone striker, has some pace, brains, touch, can watch the offside, always pushed up as far as he can go.

It took me a while to get this right and put right players in right place, tried 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 5-4-1 and 4-4-2.

It is more about the players than the formation but I worked out what 3 key skills get us goals and what 3 key weaknesses concede goals. I then put where on pitch those assets/liabilities are best placed and then worked out which players had those skills and weaknesses. That allowed me to work out who goes where. You need to do it for your team based upon what works/doesn't work for you. But we have seen an improvement in performance.

lol last week against Stoke Arsenal virutually played a 4-6-0 formation - yeah they had 5 in midfield and Arshavin was just in front but not really a Striker.

They only had one Striker (Vela) with them and they left hm on the bench
